This pandemic we’ve been in has caused us to be in close quarters with our spouse longer than ever before. Pre pandemic, if tempers flared you could just go somewhere and cool off. We were “busy” with things to do, people to see, and places to go; but now a lot of that has come to a halt. I guess what I’m trying to say is during this pandemic you may have learned your communication skills with your mister may have needed some tweaking and growth. Well at least I did. There were times I really wanted to say exactly what was on my mind (and still do 😆) but, godly wisdom tells me to hush 🤫.
“Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17:27-28‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Did you catch that word restrain?
It’s the keep under control within limits for me Sis. This kind of control, especially when you feel you’re right, or just have to be heard; doesn’t come from ourselves, but from God Himself. The verse referenced above makes me think of meekness and wisdom. Strength under control, and the right way to apply knowledge. I know it’s seems easier to just spit out what you want and when you want, but God is calling us to see that sometimes less words is more wise! I don’t think God is saying to us to stop talking, but I do believe He is challenging us to think on the words first before we speak them, especially when entering a heated discussion.
I’ll be praying for us ❤️
