Seek: to search for (someone or something): to try to find someone or something.

Our theme verse for the year, Matthew 6:33 is at the forefront of my mind daily. Am I searching for God and His Kingdom first, second, or even at all in everything? That’s the question I ask myself and now I ask you.

Here is another scripture with the central theme of seeking the Lord:

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

When I read Hebrews 11 verse 6 that words faithbelieverewards, and seek jump out at me.

As I have been searching the scriptures, I am seeing that faith, trust, belief, and seeking God equal rewards from God. When the children of Israel sought the Lord, they were rescued, or the Lord fought their battles, and or made ways for them when there seemed to be no possible way.Sister, have you really searched for God in your current situation? Or have you looked to friends and family, sex, drugs, status, or prestige? None of those things will give the rewards that seeking God will give.

How do I search for God you ask? He is in His Word. I know very well I’m beating the dead horse lol, but this year will end like every other year if we don’t choose to seek Him and His kingdom first. Through the consistent study of God’s Word, memorization of scripture, prayer, and Christian community we will receive the promises of God, His rewards.

Next week, let’s find out what those rewards are.
