Hi Good Thing,

Thanksgiving is this week! Man did that come fast 💨

Are you ready with your savory dishes, decor, and delicious desserts? Speaking of dessert, what kind are you making? One of my husband’s favorites that I make is banana pudding. I learned how to make it from scratch especially for him. Yes that means stirring for 20 minutes over the stove. It means vanilla extract, milk, eggs, flour, butter, and sugar! The sugar brings in a delightful sweetness that makes the other ingredients when all mixed in, taste so good!

How about in your relationships? With your children, your spouse, your co-workers? Are you putting some sugar in there? Are you adding sweetness to your tone and your words?

This is a struggle of mine lately. I have wanted to be bitter with my words instead of wise and sweet. Sometimes if I’m not feeling heard, I think if I put some vinegar to my words, then I’ll get what I want. But guess what? It almost never makes any situation better. Scripture tells us “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Proverbs‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There is something about a good sweet dessert that makes you feel comfort, sometimes it even makes you smile 😃 Did you know sweet words can do the same? Sweet words can change a nasty bitter conversation, into a more kind and thoughtful exchange of feelings.

As I’m making my desserts for thanksgiving, I hope it prompts me to not only put sugar in the dessert, but some godly sugar in my heart too.
