One of my favorite bible stories is in 2 Chronicles chapter 20. Jehoshaphat is the king of Judah at the time. He learns that there are, in the words of the bible, “a great multitude” of people coming against him and his kingdom.

The bible says that Jehoshaphat is afraid when he hears this news, but he seeks the Lord in prayer. He gathers all of Judah and asks them to pray and fast too. Jehoshaphat begins to pray to the Lord. He says a lot of things in this prayer, but this is what I’ll highlight:

“Did you not, our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?” “O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.””
‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:7‬ & 12 ESV‬‬

After he prays this, he receives a message from the Lord through the prophet:

“And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s. You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.””
2 Chronicles‬ ‭20:15 & 17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Sis, the reason why I love this bible story so much is because it shows me another attribute if you will of God is! He is a Warrior! When I turn to Him, put it all (everything that old enemy, the devil is throwing at me) in His hands; He will fight for me!

From cover to cover of the Bible, God is revealing to us who He is; Creator, Father, Friend, Provider, Peace Giver, Way Maker, and the list goes on and on. We need to search the scriptures daily so we can know the God we serve, and how He has chosen to relate to us!

I know it seems like what’s happening to you right now is more than what you can take, and it might be, but it’s not too much for the Lord our God! Give it to Him today Sis, and watch God fight for you and with you!

The people of God didn’t have to fight in 2 Chronicles 20. All they had to do was praise and worship God…. Read the rest for yourself 🙌🏼
