Hi Good Thing,
It’s the last Sunday in February. Is it me or did that go by fast?! We’ve been talking about love and marriage this month. There is no way that our marriages will thrive, grow, or survive without the constant reminders from the Word of God to deny our flesh (saying what we want, reacting before seeking God, making everything about ourselves); be eager to serve (God through humility, and our husbands regardless of our feelings, but based on the commission of God to esteem others over ourselves); and last but certainly not least, to love.  This love isn’t a feeling, or a superficial love that comes and goes and is based on what your spouse does or doesn’t do, but an enduring, strong love that is rooted in Christ the Lord!
That song Frank Sinatra sings called “Love and Marriage” has been playing in my head as I thought and prayed on how to end out the month. Humor me a moment by looking at some of the lyrics:
“Love and marriage, love and marriage, go together like a horse and carriage, this I tell you brother, you can’t have one without the other… try, try, try to separate them, it’s an illusion, try, try, try and you will only come, to this conclusion
Did you hear that? Who knew Frank was a theologian? 😂 He said Love (which ultimately is God) and marriage (one flesh, a union that God created) can’t be separated! Sis in order for you to love and walk in love towards your husband is through Christ. If it’s been seeming impossible to love that man, maybe it’s because your love tank is empty! Each time it runs out we must go back  to the source of love, the One who is Love, the One who created the institution you are joined in. He can give us the fuel needed to keep denying our flesh, to keep being eager to serve, to keep bearing the fruit of Love, gentleness, kindness, patience, joy, meekness, faithfulness, peace, and goodness (Galatians 5:22-23).
Each of us our in different seasons of life. Some are waiting for their groom, some are married and happy, others are sad and discouraged in their marriage, some are completely over it and looking for a way out, some are starting over…. wherever you are, Our Daddy God is able. He is our source! He sees us, He knows us, He cares, and He isn’t going anywhere. Go to the well Sis, the Word, where you’ll find what you need to be refreshed daily, and empowered to do what the Master is calling you to do in the season you’re in. ❤
